Girl power- Cultural production and collaboration in writing

The assignment was for "Kiki" to write a 12 line poem.. She made a good structure then spontaneously consulted with other students to improve her product technically and stylistically.

Lines were trimmed, words substituted or changed and pacing adjusted- leading to a tighter result. This is an example of "cultural production." There is a lot of scope for this in communities to engage youth in positive activities rather than relying on a bureaucracy someplace to do it.

Eminem of the Nola busts out one last rhyme

Alias "Paul Wall" rapping in Espanola. Never found out his real name. Use of video and spoken word lyrics seems to engage youth more with certain text, compared to piling on worksheets. He was respected for his skillz, and the youth of Espanola express regret at his passing. This last custom rhyme which he delivered uses an instrumental beat to Snoop Dogg's classic "Vato" of the 1990s..
